By Captain/EMT Dan Devitt
May 30, 2019

At 1459 Hours Task Force 16 (District 16, Tower Ladder 15, Squad 51, Engine 1132, Ladder 1324) were dispatched to 135 Haddon Avenue in Collingswood for a reported dwelling fire.

At 1501 hours 1601 (Chief Davis) reported he had smoke showing from a block away, at the same time Tower Ladder 15 responded under the command of Captain Devitt with a staffing of six.

1601 arrived on location and found a 3 story twin with heavy fire conditions showing from the first floor. 1601 transmitted the “All Hands” signal which brought Engine 1512 into the scene.

At 1503 hours Squad 16 arrived on location and deployed a hand line for fire suppression and obtained a water supply. Squad 51 was requested to pick up an additional water supply upon arrival.

At 1504 hours Tower Ladder 15 arrived on location and was given the order to split the crew. Half of the crew assisted Squad 16 with the deployment of the hand line and then went inside and started a primary search while the other half of the crew threw ground ladders around the dwelling.

Engine 1512 responded under the command of Captain Young with a staffing of 4.

Crews from Squad 16, Tower Ladder 15 and Engine 1132 reported high heat and zero visibility on the second and third floors with companies opening up as they progressed with the primary search.

An additional hand line was stretched into the second floor of the fire building in case any extension was found.

1601 then requested an additional Engine and Truck Company to the scene.

Engine 1512 arrived on location and along with Squad 51 checked the Delta exposure for extension and found a smoke condition throughout.

With all visible fire knocked down and no extension found, the fire was placed under control at 1528 hours.

Companies remained on scene checking for hot spots and equipment restoration.
